| Ana loses once again to Dementieva
|
|
Ana did not have the best of games. In the first set Dementieva was able to immediately go through Ana's service game. Ana could never come into the first set and lost it very fast with 6-2.
In the second set Ana started much better. She won her first service game and went through Dementieva's service, extending her lead to 2-1. But Dementieva made the rebreak immediately, won her next service game, and broke Ana again to take the lead again: 2-3. But girls were able to break once more and everything stayed square until 5-5. At 5-5, Dementieva broke once more through Ana's service and she could serve for the match. She did so with ease and won the match with 6-2 7-5 in 1 and a half hour.
In the four encounters between Ana and Dementieva, Dementieva was able to win all 4 of them.

Allthough Ana is not playing her best tennis, she advances to the semi-finals of the Qatar Telecom German Open in Berlin after, again, a three-setter. This time the victim was Hungarian top-player 'Agnes Szavay.
The Hungarian up-and-coming player won the first set quite easily with 6-3. The second set was a very close one which was won by Ana luckily, who was able to get that one very important break.
Play got suspended right after this second set because it was already very late and it got too dark to play.
So the last set had to be played very early on saturday (because the semi-finals match is later on saturday). Ana was not as tired anymore than Agnes Szavay and Ana had no troubles winning the third and final set with 6-3.
Later today Ana will face Elena Dementieva for the fourth time in her young career. However Ana has never been able to win against Dementieva so hopefully Ana can turn the tide to advance to a second Berlin final in a row.

| Ana reaches Quarter-Finals
|
|
Ana reached to quarter-finals of the Qatar Telecom German Open after a new three-setter against Sybille Bammer. Ana had a lot of troubles with overcoming the Austrian Bammer and needed exactly 2 hours and 30 minutes.
It was a match with a lot of break points and actual breaks on both sides. Both girls had the opportunities to win the match but it was Ana who played more solidly during the important games of the first and third set.
Ana will have to improve her service if she wants to stand a chance in the following rounds of this tournament, as she only won 65% of the points on her first service and as low as 41% on her second.
In the quarter-finals will wait the Hungarian up-and-coming Agnes Szavay. It is the first time both girls will meet on a tenniscourt.

| Ana overcomes Amanmuradova
|
|
Ana won her first match against Amanmuradova without too many problems with 7-6(0) and 6-2. Allthough the score could have been worse, Ana did not play her best of matches. However this was only the first game on clay of the season so Ana will improve when she will get some more match rhythm.
In the first set the player from Uzbekistan was able to win most of her strong service games, but so did Ana . Ana then won the tie-break with 7-0.
The second set did not start too well for Ana, as she gave away her first service game immediately. However Ana then started to dictate the game and won the second set without too many problems.
In the third round Ana will face Sybille Bammer, who won her match in three sets against German Sabine Lisicki after coming back from an almost beaten position.

| Qatar Telecom German Open
|
|
Ana plays her first match of the Qatar Telecom German Open in Berlin tomorrow afternoon in the Steffi Graf Stadium. She is playing against the fairly unknown but tough player Amanmuradova. Ana is sheduled to play second in the Steffi Graf stadium right after Peng and Jankovic will have played their match.
In the meantime I have added new pictures to the gallery. The offcourt album of the Pacific Life Open 2008 has been updated and The Fed Cup 2008 oncourt album has been created.
